Best Style to Repair a Croaky Hard Shell Suitcase?

My wife's suitcase was cracked around one of the wheels by TAP last year on our way out to the Azores. I'm trying to find the all-time way of repairing information technology. The crack isn't that large - about 3 inches long around one of the wheels. In that location are all sorts of wierd and wonderful suggestions on the internet just I wondered if anyone on here had any practical experience of the best mode of effecting a repair.

It'southward well-nigh to get well tested on a trip to China in a couple of week's fourth dimension.

Been wondering nigh trying that but didn't know if I could make information technology strong enough. Other things I've been considering are fibre glass/resin and some sort of reinforcement held in place with Araldite or Gorilla glue. Non sure whether Araldite will stick to the material (ABS I remember) though.

Test to encounter if a dab of gorilla gum sticks to the plastic. If it does your worries are over. Add fibreglass over the crack and you should be laughing.

We were going on iii weeks holiday by train effectually Europe and as the new suitcase went down the curb side by side to the car, a wheel came off (suitcase, not car). Threw it away and bought a horrendously overpriced 1 in London.

*IF* its ABS then acetone will dissolve it. Pour some over the cleft and work the area around then that it gets within, wipe off backlog and leave to prepare. Worked on my inspo example.

It is a very lightweight and supposedly 'indestructable' case. It survived over 40 flights all over the globe through a lot of tertiary globe countries unremarkably well known for their luggage destruction systems. Then TAP managed to damage it going from London to Lisbon and rejected any responsibility for the damge saying that wheels aren't covered. The wheel is undamaged - the fissure is alongside information technology.

ABS should glue using a solvent based glue (such as for joining PVC pipes).

When BA baggage treatment at Heathrow broke the handle on my Samsonite a few years agone, I thought I'd take to phone upwards and get Samsonite to ship me free spare parts. I then idea "No, BA bankrupt information technology, so they can repair it." BA said they don't exercise repairs, but would courier me a brand new Samsonite the post-obit mean solar day, which they duly did. (I then repaired the old one with free parts from Samsonite) and sold the brand new i on ebay!

Proud to exist a tedious health and softy crap following sissie!
